Terms of service
Last updated June 2026. Use the site, practise hard, do not cheat the leaderboard.
Accepting these terms
By using Typinger you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may update the terms as the product changes, and the date above reflects the current version.
Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done through your account. Give us an email address you control, choose a display name that is not offensive or impersonating someone else, and do not share logins. We may suspend accounts that break these rules or that are used to attack the service.
Sign-in attempts are rate limited to protect accounts, so repeated wrong passwords will temporarily lock sign-in for that email.
Fair play on leaderboards
Leaderboards only mean something if the scores are real. Submitting results produced by scripts, macros, text expanders, modified clients or network tools is prohibited, and our moderators may flag or delete any result that is clearly not human typing. Repeated manipulation leads to account removal.
The daily challenge is validated on the server against the day's game and difficulty, so results submitted for the wrong combination are rejected automatically.
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape at scale, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Do not use Typinger to store or transmit unlawful content, including in display names.
- Do not resell access to the site or present it as your own product.
- Automated access is allowed only for well-behaved search engine crawlers following robots.txt.
Content and intellectual property
The Typinger name, interface, games, lesson material and articles are our intellectual property and may not be copied wholesale. You are welcome to quote an article with a link back, and to share your own result cards anywhere you like.
Typing passages include public domain and originally written text. If you believe something here infringes your rights, contact us and we will review it promptly.
Service availability and liability
Typinger is provided as is, without warranty. We aim for high availability but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, preserved scores in the event of a failure, or that measurements match any particular exam's official scoring. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us, which for a free service is zero.
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of business, and disputes will be handled in those courts.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use Typinger results in a job application?
- Yes, and we recommend quoting a three or five minute result. Typinger is not an accredited certification body, so some employers will still run their own assessment.
- What counts as cheating?
- Any result not produced by you typing on a keyboard in real time: scripts, macros, text expanders, autocomplete tools or modified clients. Moderators can flag or remove such results.
- Can my account be deleted without warning?
- Only for serious abuse, such as attacking the service or repeated leaderboard manipulation. In other cases we contact you first using the email on the account.
- May I embed Typinger tests on my site?
- Not without written permission, but you are very welcome to link to any page, and links to specific tests are encouraged.
- Do these terms change?
- Occasionally, as features change. The updated date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and significant changes are announced on the blog.
